John J. Doucette, age 76, of Hellertown PA, formerly of Scotch Plains NJ where he lived for 44 years, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township PA. He is the husband of Josephine (Ficchi) Doucette. The couple celebrated their 53 Wedding Anniversary.

Born in New London CT, he is son of the late John J. and Rose (Doucette) Doucette. He was a Baker for Drake Bakeries in Wayne NJ for 26 years, retiring in 1993. Prior to that he was a Baker for the A&P Bakery in Newark NJ for 14 years. He served his country faithfully during Korean War in the United States Army as a Cpl, was recipient of 5 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nation Service Medal. He was a Volunteer for 6 years for the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, Scotch Plains NJ.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughters, Debra L., wife of Robert A. Coscia of Bethlehem Township PA and Catherine A., wife of Mark E. Robertson of Tracy CA; Sisters, Marion Dahlgren of Groton CT and Theresa Porter of Norwich CT; and 3 Grandchildren, Rebecca Robertson, Anthony Coscia and Matthew Robertson.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005 at St. Theresa's Cemetery in Summit NJ. Family and friends may call 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 617 Main St., Hellertown PA 18055


As a childhood friend of his daughter Cathy, I knew Mr. Doucette when he lived in Scotch Plains. He was kind and cheerful with Cathy's friends, and I always felt welcome in his home.
