Clare L. Shellhammer, age 78, of Orefield PA, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown PA. He was the Husband of Joyce L. (Kemmerer) Shellhammer. The couple celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary this past November.

Born in South Whitehall Township PA, he was the son of the late Harold E. Sr. and Carrie (DeFrain) Shellhammer. He was a Carpenter, working for various Lehigh Valley Contractors for 45 years before retiring in 1987. He was a Member of Christ's Church at Lowhill, New Tripoli PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II with a rank of Sergeant. He was a Fire Police Volunteer for the Tri Clover Fire Company, Orefield PA for the past 35 years. He was also a Member of the Copeechan Fish & Game Club, Schnecksville PA.

He is survived by his Wife; Sons, Daniel E. Shellhammer of Zionsville PA, Dave E. Shellhammer of Zionsville PA and Donald A. Shellhammer of Orefield PA; Daughter, Darlene A. Peterson of Macungie PA; Brothers, Harold E. Shellhammer, Jr. of Allentown PA, Leonard A. Shellhammer of Orefield PA and Dale T. Shellhammer of Kempton PA; Sisters, Celesta I. Prutzman of Allentown PA and Faye E. Spohn of Nazareth PA; and Nieces and Nephews. He is predeceased by his Son, Dwayne L. Shellhammer, 1980.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA. Fasmily and Friends may call 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home. Interment in Lowhill Church Cemetery, New Tripoli PA.
