Ernest S. “Smokey” Brensinger, 74 of Old Zionsville, died Friday, November 9, 2012 in his home. He was the husband of Darlene L. (Ruppert) Gilbert Brensinger. The couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary last August 22.
Born in Longswamp Township, Berks County, June 7, 1938, Ernest was the son of the late Amandus M. and Arline (Roth) Brensinger. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during a peacetime era.
Ernest was employed as a welder at Tyler Pipe in Macungie for many years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked at the former Alburtis Foundry. Since his formal retirement, Ernest worked part-time at Dan Schantz Farms in Spinnerstown.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Darlene; children, Adele K. Parker, Jamie F. Brensinger and Lisa M. Diehl all of Alburtis, Tina A. Gilbert of Bethlehem; siblings, Russell Brensinger of Hellertown, Jackson Brensinger and Linda Stettler both of Alburtis, Althea Moyer of Topton; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Service: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Santucci officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Orefield.
