Lewis R.B. Smith, 86, of Orefield, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Emeritus at Allentown. He was the husband of Gloria A. (Hein) Smith. The couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary last April 7.

Born in Allentown, October 1, 1926, Lewis was the son of the late Lewis A. and Blanche I. (Campbell) Smith. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Lewis was employed as an electronic technician at Alcatel-Lucent formerly A.T. & T. & Western Electric for 31 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown, where he served as Treasurer, Deacon and Elder.

His community involvement include Past President, Financial Secretary and Membership Chairman of the Tri-Clover Fire Co., Orefield, Past President of the former Orefield Playground Association, Past President of the Orefield / Parkland A.A.R.P., member of the Pioneers of Lucent, life member and flag bearer of the former Vernon G. Kern V.F.W. Post # 8344, Schnecksville.

Survivors: Wife, Gloria; predeceased by a daughter, Patricia L. Smith, sisters, Dorothy Litzenberger, Mary Schaeffer, and a brother, George Smith.

Services: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Jordan U.C.C. 1837 Church Road, Allentown, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith and the Rev. F. Russell Pinkerton officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church parlor. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Jordan U.C.C. Cemetery. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Jordan U.C.C. Perpetual Memorial Fund, Jordan U.C.C. Cemetery Assoc. and/or Arcadia Hospice all in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.

Uncle Dick we are going to miss you so much.

Uncle Dick, we will remember you as a good man who was always helpful in the community and a great recruiter for the Navy. You could always lighten the mood with family, we know you are with God preparing a place for us and enjoying those whom have gone before. God be with you Aunt Gloria, we know that you will be not alone, there are several angels watching over you. We love you!
