Ruth E. (Leith) Benzak, 89, of Upper Saucon Twp. died Monday, January 23, 2012 at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital , Coaldale. Born in Fountain Hill on October 16, 1922 to the late Andrew C. and Violet (Swartz) Leith. She is the wife of the late Joseph W. Benzak, Sr. (died 9/1/2005).

Ruth is a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lower Saucon Township, where she was the former superintendent of the Sunday school, choir member, and former Sunday school teacher and its Altar Guild. She was a member of the Saucon Valley Community Center where she taught craft classes. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and life member of the Leithsville Volunteer Fire Company.

Jr. and his wife Jane of Timberlake NC, David J. and his companion Judy Gibson of Bethlehem, Kathryn R. wife of George Pinkey of Hometown; Half-Sister: Arlene Laub of Philadelphia; Step-Sister: Catherine Wimmer of NY; Grandchildren: Tonya Ruswieler of Hamburg, Jodie Johnson of Bethlehem, Vicki Benson of Wycombe, Elizabeth Ann Pinkey wife of Stephen A. Behun III, Tamaqua, Joseph A. Pinkey of Hometown; Great Grandchildren: Amber and Emma Benson, Zachary Johnson, Stephen A. Behun IV, and William G. Behun and Kathryn E. Behun.

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church, 3233 Apples Church Road, Bethlehem followed by the service at 11 with the Rev. Tricia A. McMackin, officiating. Private interment at New Jerusalem Cemetery-Lower Saucon Township. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. – Hellertown.
