Edward C. Beers, 84, of Bethlehem Twp. died Monday, January 23, 2012 at his residence. He is the husband of Isabelle J. (Smith) Beers.

Born in Bethlehem on July 30, 1927 to the late Kenneth A. and Anna (Garay) Beers. He served our country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII. Beginning in 1960, he was a self employed General Contractor for 50 years trading as EC Beers General Contractor, Bethlehem. Edward, for 42 years, was active in the Bethlehem American Legion Band as a Trumpeter. He was known for his humor and wit.

Survivors: In addition to his love wife of 61 years; children: Bruce E. Beers and his wife Debra of Coopersburg, Jennifer J. wife of David J. Emili of Salisbury Twp., Michael C. Beers of Bethlehem; 5 grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren. Predeceased by 2 great granddaughters.

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street - Hellertown followed by the service at 8 p.m. Interment at Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorials to the VNA Hospice of St. Luke's - 1510 Valley Center Parkway Suite 200 - Bethlehem, PA 18017.

It was a pleasure and honor to perform with Ed for very many years with the band. He certainly kept all of us laughing. His constant jokes and sense of humor were the best. Ed always had stories to tell of past band concerts, parades and trips. My thoughts and prayers to the family.
