Bruce S. Handwerk, 62, of Slatington, died suddenly, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at The Palmerton Hospital, after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Linda G. (Evans) Handwerk. The couple celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary last June 9. Born in Allentown, February 21, 1949, Bruce was the son of Madeline L. (Klotz) Handwerk of Slatington and the late Stanley O. Handwerk. He was employed as an electronics technician at Telehealth Services, locally based in Philadelphia, for the last 5 years. Prior to that, he co-owned and operated the former Harvey's TV in Northampton for 15 years and was formerly employed by G.E. and RCA. He was a member of the Slatington Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses where he loved his study of the Bible. He also loved sharing that knowledge, including his love for his Creator Jehovah, with his neighbors. Bruce was an avid fisherman and gardener. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife and mother; beloved children, Sean C. Handwerk and his wife, Samantha, of Slatington, Katelyn S. Edkin and her husband, Joseph, of Shickshinny; step children, W .Edward Elliot and his wife, Genesis, of Charleston, WV and Roseanna A. Bernet and her husband, Joshua, of Leesport; brother, Barry D. Handwerk and his wife, Susan, of Sarasota, FL; two beautiful and beloved grandchildren, Kairi and Karter. Services: A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Slatington Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 8110 PA Route 873, Slatington. No calling hours. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the World-Wide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
