Clifford C. Snyder, 89, of Schnecksville, died Saturday, Christmas Eve, in his home. He was the husband of Marion L. (Hausman) Snyder. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last April 2.

Born in Whitehall Township, August 11, 1922, Clifford was the son of the late Charles T. and Addie E. (Buss) Snyder. He was employed as a Quality Control Inspector at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., in Allentown, for 32 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, where he was currently serving on the property committee. He was a former member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church where he formerly served on church council. Active in the life of his community, he served as Superintendant of the Schnecksville Sunday School for over 41 years; served as Past Noble Grand and was a 67 year member of the Jordan Lodge # 192, I.O.O. F., Schnecksville being awarded the Meritorious Service Jewel and the Degree of Chivalry; served as Past Grand Patriarch of the Pleasant Corner Encampment #54; served as District Deputy Grand Master of I.O.O.F. served as Past Noble Grand of the Lady Lillie Best Rebekah Lodge # 222, Schnecksville; was a life member and board member of the Pastorius Home Association serving as Interim Haus Parent in Bad Windsheim, Germany.

Clifford was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed working with youth. He was a 20 year Cub and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #57, Neffs, Explorer Post Advisor, Commissioner and sustaining member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Coordinator and Instructor for the Hunter and Trapper Safety Courses offered by the Pennsylvania State Game Commission. He was a life member of the Copeechan Fish and Game Club, Schnecksville. Clifford and his wife, Marion, planned and escorted many tours throughout the world.

Survivors: Wife; children, Dwight H. Snyder of Schnecksville, Pamela C. Kelchner and her husband, Richard, of Fleetwood; sister, Carolyn R. Schleicher and her husband, Lee, of Catasauqua; grandchildren, Vicki, Amber, Justin, Joshua, Aaron and Ashley; predeceased by a son, Craig K. Snyder, who died November 2, and to whom he is now re-united.

Service: Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Union United Church of Christ, 5550 PA Route 873, Neffs, with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville and 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the church. An Odd Fellows Service will be held 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Pastorius Home Association both in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.
