Othmar Buttiker, 80, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Inpatient Hospice Division of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He is the husband of Balbin V. (Emch) Buttiker.

Born in Wolfwil, Switzerland on September 10, 1929 he is the son of the late Robert and Lina (Niggli) Buttiker. Othmar started his career at the St. Lawrence Cement Company in Canada, then continued his career at Atlantic Cement in Ravena, NY, Kosmos Cement, Kentucky, Missouri Portland Cement in St. Louis and at Fuller Company Allentown as a Senior Technical Advisor for many years until retiring. With each company he traveled the world starting up many cement companies. In his retirement he loved gardening, traveling and a Southern Comfort Manhattan in the evening. He had the ability to put people at ease and making a deep impression on everyone he met. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Inpatient Hospice for the care of Othmar during his illness. He is a member of Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown

Survivors: In addition to his Wife of 52 years; Son, David O. Buttiker of Phoenix, AZ; Brothers, Ernst and his wife Marta Tarpon Springs, FL and Peter and his wife Rita Norton Hill, NY; Sisters, Rosemaire Buttiker, Leontina Spahr and Johanna Burri and her husband Roland all of Switzerland. Predeceased by Daughter, Carmen A. Buttiker (died Nov. 7, 1988).

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 12-1 Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street - Hellertown. Graveside services will be held immediately following the calling period at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Othmar trained my husband, Bill Miller, on the kilns at Atlantic Cement.Bill always praised Othmar for his
knowledge of the kilns
and how patient he was in training.He helped to make Bill's life in the cement industry.
