Violet M. (Silfies) Christman, 82, of Slatington, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of the late James I. Christman.

Born in Palmerton, February 28, 1927, Violet was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Sarah J. (Borger) Silfies. She was employed as the sexton of Friedens U.C.C. Slatington for 32 years before retiring in 1998. Prior to that, Violet worked as a trimmer in a textile mill in Palmerton. She was of the Christian Faith.

Survivors: Children, Gerald P. Christman, Randall J. Christman and Sharon L. Kuntz and her husband Robert all of Slatington; sister, Edith A. Schaffer of Chambersburg; predeceased by siblings, Allen W.H. Silfies and Minerva Hillman.

Service: Private and at the convenience of the family. No calling hours. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.
