Dorothy Jean (Schneck) George, 76, of Allentown, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in her home. She was the wife of Donald J. George. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last June 26.

Born in Allentown on February 7, 1933, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Clarence T. and Mabel I. (Fenstermaker) Schneck. She was employed as a bench worker and inspector at the former Western Electric in Allentown for 15 years before retiring in 1974. Prior to that, she was a seamstress at the Movie Star Manufacturing. She also worked part-time in the family business at Kleckner & Sons.

Active in the life of her community, she was a volunteer for the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Allentown Women's Club, the Allentown Art Museum Women's Auxiliary, the NOVA Women's Auxiliary and the Woodlawn Fire Co. Women's Auxiliary. Dorothy was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors: Husband; daughters, Deborah J. wife of Charles “Chip” Searfoss of Allentown, Doreen J. Cantalini of Germansville; sister, Ruth Ann wife of Earl Purner of Allentown; brother-in-law, Dale A. George and his wife Janice of Allentown; sister-in-law, Lucille Schneck of Topton; grandchildren, Michael Pletz and his wife Nadia, Justin Cantalini, Ryan Pletz, Jaime Lyn Cantalini; step grandson, Philip Searfoss; great grandson, Andrew Pletz; nieces; nephews; predeceased by a brother, Stanley F. Schneck.

Service: Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Visitation period from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.

I mailed in my contribution today to funeral home. I know Dottie is in peace with our father in Heaven. Dottie was a wonderful friend to me for over 20 yrs. I want to thank Donald for such a wonderful celebration of life for his wife. Good friends to share the memories with at our table, a delicious meal - to the loving respect of my dear friend, Dottie who I will miss very much. I will call you soon. You are all in my prayers.
