Frances P. (Bittner) Smith Stumpf, 89, residing at Sunrise of Allentown, formerly of Neffs, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late William D. Stumpf and Wilmit R. Smith.

Born in Weisenberg Township, on June 23, 1920, Frances was the daughter of the late George F. and Helen M. (George) Bittner. She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Parkland School District for 31 years before retiring in 1986. Frances was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

Survivors: Stepdaughters, Sandra L. Ackerman and her husband, Robert, and Judith A. Schrader, wife of the late Lynn P. Schrader, both of Allentown; Daughter-in-Law, Debra E. (Werley) Smith, of Schnecksville; seven Grandchildren; thirteen Great Grandchildren; predeceased by a Son, R. John Smith, who died in 2000.

Services: A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Sunrise of Allentown, 1263 South Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, with the Rev. Thomas N. Thomas, officiating. No calling Hours. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.
