Walter was a self made man. He started an awning manufacturing business in South Florida in the late 1950's and grew his business into high end home furnishing & decorating stores serving elite cliental threw out South Florida. He enjoyed sport fishing. He was an avid golfer in which he carried a low handicap well into his later years of his life. Winning the Florida Senior PGA in his late 60's and could shoot his age or lower even at age 89. In his final days he moved to his daughter's house in Pennsylvania so that she could care for him.

Survivors: Daughter, Sheryl wife of Stephen Strelecki with whom he resided; Son, Walter L. Jr. and his wife Jennifer Chapel Hill, NC; 2 Grandsons and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Services: Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. - Hellertown is handing the arrangements.
