Elda M.R. (Keener) Schenkenberger, 95, of Allentown, formerly of Neffs, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital - Allentown Campus. She was the wife of the late Clarence W. Schenkenberger.

Born in Washington Township, on November 28, 1913, Elda was the daughter of the late Francis P. and Mamie (Semmel) Keener. Active in the life of her church, Elda was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, Pianist and Choir Member. She also served as Past President of the Quilters Group and as Past President of the Lutheran Church Women. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Slatington Chapter # 458 and a former President of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Neffs Volunteer Fire Company.

Survivors: Daughter, Ruth L. Coval and her husband Daniel of Whitehall; daughter-in-law, Diana T. Frankenfield and her husband C. Dean of Schnecksville; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; predeceased by a son, Glenn F. Schenkenberger, a daughter, Blanche G. Noah, a grandson, Jeffry Schenkenberger, a brother, Daniel W. Keener; sisters, Frances S. Kupsky and Leona M. Kocher.

Services: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville with the Rev. Dennis W. Moore, officiating. Family and friends may call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the church. Eastern Star service 9:45 a.m. Thursday. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.
