Janet E. (Davies) Rubright, 78, of Slatington, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 in her home. She was the wife of John H. “Jack” Rubright. The couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last November 19.

Born in Slatington on August 1, 1930, Janet was the daughter of the late Lester and Elizabeth (Evans) Davies. She was employed as a cashier at the Slatington ACME for 26 years before retiring. Janet was a graduate of the former Slatington High School, Class of 1948, where she continued to serve as secretary on the reunion committee. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Slatington. Janet enjoyed playing cards, taking long rides into the country and eating ice cream.

Survivors: In addition to her loving husband Jack; daughter, Karen L. Papay and her husband Peter of Slatington; sons, Brian J. Rubright of Slatington and Donald G. Rubright and his wife Linda of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Mary Lee Perich of Slatington; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; twelve nephews; eight nieces; predeceased by a sister, Louise Acker and brothers, Chalmers, Reynold, Jack & Donald Davies.

Services: Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Dennis L. Zimmerman and the Rev. Henry A. Distler officiating. Family and friends may call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Cemetery of Slatington.
