Wallace B. Rich, 87, of Hellertown, died Thursday, August 28, 2008, in the Old Orchard Health Center, Bethlehem Twp. He is the husband of Stella G. Rich. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last August 17th.

Born in Philadelphia on December 24, 1920, he is the son of the late Howard & Florence E. (Hitchens) Rich. He worked as a Clerk at the Lehigh Valley Railroad and Conrail, in Bethlehem, for 41 years until retiring in 1981. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Rich was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bethlehem, where he served as former a Trustee, past Treasurer of the Building Committee and was a welcomed addition to the kitchen staff. He was a volunteer and staff member at the Miller Blood Bank, Bethlehem. He also served as Assistant Scout Master for three years at First U.C.C., Hellertown. Mr. Rich loved to work on the event staff at Stabler Arena, Lehigh University.

Survivors: in addition to his loving wife; sons Kenneth W. of Bethlehem, Bruce E. of Feasterville, Jonathan D. of Easton; 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother Howard.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church, 111 Dewberry Ave., Bethlehem. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Hellertown, is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rise Up & Build - Calvary Baptist Church building fund.

Stella and Family,

JJ and I send our heartfelt condolences to all of you. We always enjoyed Wally's reminder of his birthday and the many stories he was always ready to share. May you all feel the peace of knowing he is with the Lord and we'll see him again one day.
