Sterling S. Snyder, 79 years, of Kempton, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 in his home in Weisenberg Township. He was the husband of Eleanor L. (Holben) Snyder. Born in Kempton on October 31, 1928, Sterling was the son of the late Charles F. and Florence C. (Christman) Snyder. He was employed as Director of School Services for the Parkland School District for 21 years before retiring in 1992. Sterling served as President of the Lehigh Valley School Plant Managers. Prior to that, he worked for the former W.S. Reichenbach & Sons in Allentown. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War era with a rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post # 8282 and American Legion Post # 576. Sterling was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Seiberlingsville U.C.C., Kempton, where he served on the Consistory for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed farming on his family homestead. He was a member of Lehigh Lodge # 326, F.& A.M., Trexlertown, the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown , the Lehigh Shrine Club and the Rajah Temple, Reading. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and gardening. (competing against his wife's garden). Survivors: He will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor; sons, Edward S. Snyder and his wife Donna of New Tripoli and Roger S. Snyder and his wife Marilyn of Kempton; daughter, Sandy E. Davidson and her husband George of Bluffton, South Carolina; sister, Esther Kunkel of Allentown; his beloved granddaughters, Wendy Boyer and her husband Eran, Kimberly Haught and her husband Joshua, and Lydia Snyder; great grandson, Benjamin Boyer. Services: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Rebecca J. McMichael officiating. Family and friends may call 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at St. Paul's Cemetery, Kempton.
