Harold N. Schmidt, age 81, of Hellertown PA, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township PA. He is the husband of the late Dana M. (Lolli) Schmidt, (October 15, 2006).

Born in Hellertown PA, April 24, 1926, he is the son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Kurzweil) Schmidt. Harold worked at the Bethlehem Steel in Electrical Maintenance in the Ore Yards for 45 years, retiring in 1988. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the United States Army, earning 2 Bronze Stars, a Korean Presidential Unit Citation, an Occupation of Japan Medal and a United Nations Service Medal. He was a Member of the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 - Hellertown, where he served 51 years on the firing squad and was on the Past Board of Governors. He was also a Member of the VFW Post 3094 - Hellertown and the MORA Club of Bethlehem.

He is survived by his Sons, Bruce N. and his wife Brenda of Hellertown PA, Brian J. and his wife Susan of Rockville MD; Daughter, Diane M., wife of Joseph "Rick" Luybli of Hellertown PA; Sisters, Agnes Eleanor Snyder of Hellertown PA and Ruth Herbal of Alabama; 6 Grandchildren; and 1 Great Granddaughter. He is predeceased by his Sister, Emely T. Krukowski; and Brothers, Howard and Sebastian Schmidt.

Family and Friends are invited to call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown, followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem PA 18018; and/or a Charity of One's Choice.
