Robert H.E. Brown, Jr., 65, of Orefield, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Linda A. (Johnson) Brown. The couple celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary last December 6.

Born in Easton on February 17, 1943, Robert was the son of the late Robert H.E. Sr. and Margaret (Ward) Brown. He was employed as a security consultant for Protect Alarms in Allentown for 3 years before retiring last year. Prior to that, he retired in 2003 as Head of Plant Security from the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. after 33 years of service. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era, assigned to the Tactical Air Command. He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall Township, where he formerly served on the Consistory. He was a Past Commander of the Honorary First Defenders.

Survivors: Wife; sons, Robert H.E. Brown III and his wife Donna Lee of Allentown and Michael J. Brown and his wife Angela of Schnecksville; step son, Michael J. Alford and his wife Kayo of Belmont California; step daughter, Cyndi Lee O'Hara of Allentown; grandchildren, Shelby, Ariana, Leesa, Timothy, Aaron and Joseph; predeceased by a brother, James Brown and a grandson, Zachary Brown.

Services: A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Road, Allentown with The Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith and Pastor Wally F. Frisch officiating. The Brown family will receive guests follow the service at a reception in the social hall of the church. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.

I WAS DEEPLY SADDENED TO READ THE OBIT OF "MY FRIEND" BOB BROWN. BOB AND I HAD A BETHLEHEM STEEL WORKING FRIENDSHIP AT FIRST AND THEN IT BECAME A PERSONAL ONE WHEN HE INVITED ME TO PLAY EVERY YEAR IN THE FIRST DEFENDERS GOLF TOURNAMENT.BOB WAS ALWAYS A GENTLEMAN AND I WILL MISS HIM VERY MUCH.
