William B. Reichard, 83, of Whitehall, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 26, 2008 in his home. He was the devoted husband of Lucille (Good) Reichard for 23 years. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 25, 1924, Bill was the son of the late William Bruce and Hazel (Zimmerman) Reichard. He was a graduate of Mount Penn High School in Reading and Lehigh University in Bethlehem with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed at the former Western Electric Company in Allentown for 32 years, retiring as an Engineering Department Chief in 1987. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War as Sonar Man First Class. He was a member of Living Stone Fellowship, New Tripoli; a volunteer at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary for 20 years; a member of the Whitehall Township Library Board of Trustees and enjoyed volunteering his time in many other community organizations. Survivors: He will be sadly missed by his wife; children, David M. Reichard and his wife Cynthia of Emmaus, Allison J. Haas and her husband David of State College, Andrew S. Reichard of Allentown; six grandchildren; one great granddaughter; predeceased by a sister, Jane Martin. Services: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Reverend Timothy L. Helms officiating. Family and friends may call 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
