Alton G. “Butch” Lehr, Jr., age 73, of Schnecksville PA, died Monday, June 25, 2007 in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown PA. He was the husband of Shirley K. (Bold) Lehr. The couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last October 4th.

Born in Allentown PA, May 28, 1934, Butch was the son of the late Alton G. Sr. and Alverta (Deshler) Lehr. He was the current Owner and Operator of the Old Post Inn, Slatington PA since 1983. He also worked as a Foreman and Supervisor for the former Hahn Contracting in Birdsboro PA, the former D & C. Spinosa Contracting in Allentown PA and the UGI Gas Co. in Bethlehem PA for many years. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He faithfully and honorably served his country during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps with a rank of Corporal. He was a Member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post # 16, Slatington PA and the Slatington Moose.

He is survived by his Wife; Daughter, April K. Rogers and her husband Gregory of Schnecksville PA; Sons, Barry J. Lehr and his wife Jalaine of Slatington PA, Jay S. Lehr and his wife Carrie and Christopher A. Lehr and his wife Erika, both of Schnecksville PA; Sister, Irma Reichl of Cetronia PA; and Grandchildren, Elyse, Marisa, Brandon and Jenna.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 am. Thursday, June 28, 2007 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA with the Reverend Jami L. Possinger officiating. Family and Friends may call 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Wednesday in the Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs PA.

Jim and I met at the Old Post 21 years ago. We had a great time there with the "old gang". We always enjoyed Butch's great sense of humor.
