David Nieves, 75, of Hellertown, formerly of Spanish Colony, Staten Island, NY, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Twp. He is the husband of Maria C. (Hernandez) Nieves.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on March 1, 1933, he is the son of the late Joseph and Ramona (Irizary) Nieves. David worked for the Teamsters Union Local 807 at Nabisco, New York. He served his country honorably during the Korean War in the US Navy and was on the Firing Squad of Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 - Hellertown. David was a Musician in the New York area for many years.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife of 53 years; sons: David Nieves II and his wife Alena of Hellertown, Richard Nieves and his wife Anna of Staten Island, NY; brother: Daniel and his wife Cheryl of Kent, WA; sisters: Rosie wife of Edward Walsh, Elsie wife of Alfred Lopez, Esther wife of James Stearnes all of New Port Richie, FL, and Sarah Forsell of TX; 5 Grandchildren: Marela, Joshua, Dolores, Davina, Richard.

Services: Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. and 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street- Hellertown. Graveside Service on 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown with Military Honors.
