Edward J. McManus, 88, of Blough Health Care Center, 316 E. Market Street, Bethlehem, formerly of Hellertown, died Saturday, April 12, 2008 at his residence. He is the husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Trumbower) McManus.

Born in Ashley, PA on October 17, 1919, he is the son of Rose (Herman) and James McManus. Edward was an Engineer for the Reading Railroad from 1946 -1981; he served his country honorably during WWII in the US Army from 41-45 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant; was of the catholic faith; an avid gardener; member of Edward H. Ackerman Post 397 - Hellertown and the Retired Association of Railroad.

Survivors: Daughter: Patricia A. wife of Frank J. Zelko of Bethlehem; Brothers: Leo and his wife Rita of Kingston, Joseph of Mechanicsburg; Sister: Mary of Wilkes-Barre. Predeceased by: James, Frances, Rose Marie, Catherine Ahlbrandt, Dorothy Smith.

Services: Private service on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown followed by the interment at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
