Jessica F. (Cahn) Coleman, age 38, of Macungie PA, found peace and passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007 at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia PA.

Born in Allentown PA, October 5, 1968, she was the loving spouse of Edward D. Coleman and the caring mother for her two children, Justine, 10, and Eddie, 7. A graduate of Salisbury High School, she was in the class of 1990 at Lehigh University where she was a Cheerleader and a Member of AOPi sorority. After college, Jessica was employed at Coopers & Lybrand in Philadelphia and then at Concannon, Miller & Company in Allentown as a Certified Public Accountant. She was very active in her community, in the parent-teacher organizations at Lower Macungie Elementary School and Shoemaker Elementary School, and in church as a leader for the Youth Group at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Trexlertown. Jessica loved taking trips to Walt Disney World and Ocean City, NJ with her family.

For more than three years, she bravely fought melanoma cancer. During her fight, she organized the Race Against the Sun 5K Walk and Run in order to promote awareness for early detection of melanoma and to raise funds to further research through The Dr. Lee Riley Melanoma Research Fund of St. Luke's Cancer Center. Renamed Jessica's Race Against the Sun, all are invited to participate on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lehigh Parkway. Just last month Jessica spoke at the grand opening ceremony of St. Luke's Cancer Center in South Whitehall Township. She was …and will always remain… truly inspirational. Jessica, a very special and precious mother, spouse, neighbor, and dear friend, has become an incredible angel. Words cannot describe how much she is loved. Thankfully, she was given three years to experience and appreciate everyone's love during her battle with melanoma cancer. She always had a smile for everyone and touched each person she met. Her smile and the magic of her personality will live on inside us.

In addition to her Spouse of 13 years as of July 9th and her two beautiful Children, she is survived by her Parents, The Honorable Edward N. Cahn and Alice C. (Wotring) Cahn of Emmaus PA; her Sister, Melissa W. Cahn of Hawley PA; her Father and Mother-in-Law, Edward D. “Buz” and Veronica M. (Falcone) Coleman of Crofton MD; Sister-in-Laws, Elizabeth D. (Coleman) Hostetler of Crofton MD and Theresa A. Coleman of Ambler PA; Nephews, Abraham, August, Eric and Mark; and many other loving family members.

Funeral Services will be held 4:30 pm. Saturday, September 22, 2007 in First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 Tilghman Street, Allentown, with the Reverend Canon Michael F. Piovane, Ed.D. and the Reverend Judith U. Snyder officiating. Family and Friends may call 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Friday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA. Private interment will take place on Monday at Resurrection Cemetery in Wescosville PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St Luke's Cancer Center (c/o Jessica's Race Against the Sun) and/or St. Anne's Episcopal Church both in care of the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196. Contributions to St. Luke's Cancer Center also can be made at www.RaceAgainstTheSun.org.

It's hard to even express the sadness I feel with Jessica's passing - a friend I have known literally my entire life. She was one of the few people in this world that truly was wonderful in every sense.

Her laughter was uplifting, her spirit free and friendship unconditional. I will truly miss her.

Our family wishes all of Jessica's extended family peace and comfort through this difficult time.

I did not know Jessica (I was a classmate at Salisbury with Melissa) but I know how it feels to lose a wife/mother to cancer. My wife Brenda passed away at the age of 40 in 2005. My heart goes out to both families. Jessica fought a brave battle and is leaving a wonderful legacy for her children. If Ed needs sometone to talk with that has been down this road please have him contact me at JZellner@ezdo.com.

Memories are a gift from God to those left behind.

They bring comfort, moy and laughter. And they enable us to live forever in the hearts of those we love.

A few months ago, on the way back from my son's baseball game, I stopped at this lemonade stand. There sitting was a Gentle Spirited woman. I soon found out it was Jessica. She greeted me with such a warm smile,as if we had met before. Around her were many people and I thought to myself, what a remarkable woman she must be, to have so many family and friends rallying around her- I extend my deepest sympathy to them. Also my thoughts and prayers will be with them during this very difficult time.

For they shall be comforted."

Jessica was a classmate and friend of mine at Salisbury. If there was one word to describe her it would be "Smiley". She always had a smile for anyone at any time. I had the chance to meet up with her again to plan one of our class reunions. It was great spending time with her and remembering all of the good times we shared. God is very lucky to have her as one of his angels. My prayers go out to her family.

Our son, Ed, had the privilege of being Jess’s loving and devoted spouse. She brought joy, warmth, and happiness to him and to all the members of our family. We will miss her, but we will be reminded of her in the sparkling eyes and generous smiles of their children, Justine and Eddie. Jessica will always be in our hearts and memories. Her cheerful disposition, her radiant smile, and her infectious laugh were dear to everyone who knew her. We thank God for allowing us to be a part of her life. I met Jessica at Lehigh and can still remember her wonderful, bubbling laughter. What a vibrant soul. I send my deepest condolences to her husband and children and the rest of her family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Amy Santos    09-20-2007

I became acquainted with Jessica's story through her Race Against The Sun organization. What began as a way to help a neighbor, evolved into so much more. Jessica affected my life, and the lives of my family and friends, in ways she could not imagine.
I had a single chance meeting with her; and was fortunate to catch a glimpse of her famous smile as she watched her children sing during a Bible School show. It was that moment I realized she was so much more than the updates and stories of her struggle. She was first and foremost a dedicated mother who radiated pride for her children. I am inspired by her strength and grace; awed by her dignity; and humbled by her courage. She is a hero in a world where there are too few to be found. May she find peace with God.
My sincerest condolences, Amy Santos and Family

I'm sure she's looking down and watching over your family now, with that same smile.

Jessica was a beautiful reflection of the light of Christ. She radiated love, joy, and warmth to everyone, brightening every place she entered with her smile. Her smile is engraved in our hearts--it is what we remember most about her. Heaven is a little brighter now that Jessica has found her rest there. We will continue to feel the warmth of her light shining down upon us.

I am completely devastated by the news I recieved Tuesday that dear Jessica has gone on to be with her Lord. I've known her for almost 9 years and there is not a finer lady or mother or loving wife as she was. My heart goes out to her loving husband, children, parents and sister and I know that we will all forever be a little poorer for her absence but richer in the love and energy she left behind. God Bless the Colemans, Cahns and the extended Wotring clan in this difficult and sad hour.

I am part of a womens running group in Lehigh Parkway in Allentown, PA. Last spring it was brought to our attention that a lovely woman named Jessica had been fighting a melanoma. Througout the summer we followed her progress and learned by reading the newspaper and having an announcement of her passing this past week. Our entire group will be running on Saturday, Sept. 29th in her memory. Our deepest sympathy to Jessica's entire family. First strides, Allentown

Dear Judge Cahn, Mrs. Cahn, Melissa, Ed, Justine and Eddie,

I remember a "snowday" long ago when the Zitrides kids were invited over to the Cahn's house for pancakes after we all shoveled the driveways. Like it was yesterday, I recall the excitement I felt when I knew I was going to get to eat pancakes with Jessica....I always looked up to her and wanted to be just like her!

Today's beautiful service testified to Jessica's loving impact on so many people in so many ways.

With sympathy and much love,
Christine

Thanks for sharing the pictures of her and her beautiful family. My thoughts and prayers go out to Ed, Justine and Eddie and all the family and friends that loved her so much.
