Rodney L. Nickum, age 81, of Hellertown PA, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown PA.

Born in Hellertown PA, June 9, 1926, he is the son of the late Lewis A. and Florence Edna (Mondeau) Nickum. Rodney worked for the PA State Unemployment Office, Easton PA until retirement. He served this country honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. He was a member of First United Church of Christ were he was a past Choir Member; and the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397, both in Hellertown. He was a well-known Pianist in the Lehigh Valley the majority of his life.

He is survived by his Sister, Joyce B. Curry and Niece, Gail Sherer, both of Hellertown PA.

Family and Friends are invited to call 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. Monday August 27, 2007 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown, followed by services at 10:00 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Church, 501 Northampton St., Hellertown PA 18055.

I worked with Rodney at the unemployment office until his retirement. He was always a gentleman and always kept people's spirits up. He will be missed. Sorry for your loss.
