Sara H. Harting, age 83, of Allentown PA, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township PA. She was the Wife of the Reverend George L. Harting. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past November 20th.

Born in Akron PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. and Esta (Buch) Herr. She was a Home Economics Teacher in the Parkland School District for 22 years, retiring in 1982. Mrs. Harting graduated with a B.S. Degree from Hood College in Frederick MD.

She was a Member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown PA, where she formerly served on the Consistory, numerous Committees, was a former Church School Teacher for 40 years and formerly sang on the Choir. She formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Penn Northeast Conference, Palmerton PA for 2 terms and was also a member of the Evangelism Task Force and Ministerial Placement Committee. Mrs. Harting was Past Chairperson of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries of the United Church of Christ from 1989 - 1991.

She is survived by her Husband; Son, John H. Harting of Schnecksville PA; Daughter, Rebecca S. Brown of Dushore PA; and 3 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 in the Church, 1837 Church Road, Allentown PA. Family and Friends may Call 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Church. The Reverend Dr. David Charles Smith officiating. Interment in Jordan U.C.C. Cemetery, Allentown PA. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Schnecksville PA.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Jordan U.C.C. Renovation Fund c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.

Christmas time of years ago with Sara's rendition of "O Holy Night" is still a happy memory in this Clauser household.

Loretta and I wish to add our names to the long list of those who have been blessed by the life and service of Sara. She was a great lady and shall surely be missed. I always loved Sara's recipes in the Parkland Press "Kitchen Kapers." It's many years since I moved from the Lehigh Valley to Chicagoland, but I still use her recipes and am sorry to see of her passing.
